World Class Crematorium on the Coromandel

Thames might be the first in the Southern Hemisphere to have pet and human crematoria under the same roof.

It is one of 16 pet crematoriums in Aotearoa and is the only one where you can get same day cremations and have your pets ashes returned to you by 4:30pm the same day.

Adrian Catrin from Twentymans Funeral Directors Thames, said it’s a state of the art crematorium which allows money to be kept on the peninsula and also allows families to have more closure for their human and animal loved ones.

“It’s all happening here, the money is being generated locally, it’s being spent locally, it’s spent on wages, on repairs of vehicles and general things around this town” said Adrian. “The money is staying on the peninsula.”
