The Whangamatā Adventure Race on 4 October 2025 involves travelling on foot and by mountain bike to collect checkpoints marked on a map.

The course will take teams of 2-4 people on an exciting, cross country adventure through native bush, streams, farmland trails and forestry. Disciplines include mountain biking, trekking, navigation, kayaking and mystery activities.

The 3hr event is designed for families and beginners, the 6hr event is for the everyday athlete with some navigation experience, the 12hr event is an exciting challenge for experienced adventure racers.

The Whangamatā Adventure Race course will be kept secret until the day of the race and you will receive your maps before race start so you can plan your strategy and route choice.
