A Years Rainfall by May 9

It took just 126 days to reach our annual rainfall this year. By May 9 we had reached 3550mm of rain which is the expected annual rainfall for the Pinnacles on the Coromandel ranges.

It’s heading towards the current record of 5189.5mm which fell in 2993. The minimum rainfall was in 2015 with 2372mm.

The graph shows the large amount of rain that fell from 1 Jan to 15 Feb but another spike has happened from 29 April when a further 846mm has fallen.

Quite a lot of rain has fallen today with 92.5mm falling on the Pinnacles as at 1pm today. Other areas recorded 52.8mm in Whangamata, 37.6mm in Coromandel, Thames 33.8mm, 25.7mm in Whitianga.

Surface flooding came across the road south of Whitianga and further south flooding closed SH25 for a time between Waihi and Whiritoa.
