AUCKLAND TO LEVEL 3 – SOME BORDER EXTENSIONS IN NTH WAIKATO – CONDITIONS RELAXED FOR LEVEL 2 EVERYWHERE

Written by on September 20, 2021

Coromandel and surrounding areas can largely take a sigh of relief as the recent cases on the border around Mangatangi have not had any negative bearing on Alert levels and the move for Auckland to Level 3 will still be going ahead.

At the 4pm press conference Director-general of health Dr. Ashley Bloomfield said a section 70 notice for people around Mangatangi would effectively increase the border around Auckland. It would require those who had visited or lived in an area around Mangatangi and surrounding towns since September 8 to isolate and monitor symptoms. The Prime Minister said it was a “bespoke” level 4 lockdown requirement around that area.

People were asked to monitor locations of interest however these have not yet been updated and we will post these as soon as the updates are available.

For the remaining areas of Waikato including Coromandel, these will remain on Level 2 with a relaxation on group sizes. Currently this is set at 50 people indoors and will be increased to allow gatherings of 100.

The changes will come into effect at midnight tomorrow night.
