Heartland Rugby Back On The Coast

Big-time rugby for Whangamata this weekend with Heartland rugby coming to town.

The two championship leading teams, Thames Valley and South Canterbury, square off on Saturday afternoon being a first for the town.

Local club spokesman, Russell Choat, told CFM the club hopes more than 2000 people would attend the game, special seating and fencing having been installed to cater for the anticipated crowd.

There is a $5 entry cost to assist with covering the costs associated with hosting the game while he said special family rate will be applied.

The local red and white club is hosting a pre-match function on the Friday evening with former All Black Carl Hoeft speaking.
