Roots Marlborough Dry Gin has won the World’s Best London Dry Gin at the 2023 World Gin Awards in London.

The Roots Dry Gin is made by Blenheim’s Elemental Distillers Ltd and was founded by Ben Leggett and Simon Kelly in 2018. Ben Leggett attended the awards ceremony in London and before his return to New Zealand posted a video announcing the win and thanking everyone who had contributed to making the winning product.

He said that he was very proud with the win and proudly picked up the grand trophy for the world’s best London Dry Gin.

Silver prize went to Queenstown’s Broken Heart Original Gin and Bronze to our own local Gin from Thames, Awilidian Coromandel Spiced Gin.

The award was from Gin Magazine and included an initial blind tasting with judges deciding country winners before a second-round selection of the world’s best. The organisers said they were blown away with the quality and number of Gins entered.
