Labour has launched its push for the Coromandel seat, announcing New Plymouth-based list Member of Parliament, Glen Bennett, as its candidate for the electorate in November’s election.

Despite living in New Plymouth for many years, Bennett says his candidacy “feels like a homecoming” as he has whakapapa in the region, growing up in Te Aroha, only moving back to the Coromandel earlier this year.

He says that, as Labour’s spokesperson for tourism and hospitality, he resonates with Coromandel issues, and is motivated by “advocating for those on the margins”.
