Quick Action Saves Onemana House

Fire fighters from Whangamata, Pauanui and Onemana were being praised last night, saving a townhouse in Onemana during a car fire.

The vehicle, parked in a carport, was fully ablaze when volunteer fireman arrived on the scene just after 10pm.  The quick action limited the house damage to a front wall and roof, the car was destroyed.

Whangamata Fire Chief, Nigel Avery, said the brigades had been able to get the car fire under control before the blaze spread to the house.

Two residents were uninjured, police were also on the scene. – By John Freer
