There is nothing quite like a sporting win to set up a good week, well the Thames Valley Swamp Fox Heartland championship win on Saturday could impact rugby around the region for the coming seasons.

And now with the Heartland championship title returning to Thames Valley, it provides the opportunity for local rugby officials to start considering that wider impact of the win on their sport.

Thames Valley Rugby Union president, Ross Cooper, spoke to CFM explaining the positive impact the championship title would have, not just on rugby, but the wider region.

More than 5000 people turned out to watch the match played at Te Aroha, large numbers of young people attending many wearing Thames Valley Swamp Fox merchandise. They saw their home side battle for 80 minutes to win the Meads Cup 37-29 from Mid Canterbury.
