TCDC Appoints Rex Capil as Acting Chief Executive

TCDC Has today announced the appointment of an interim Chief Executive.

Rex Capil,  Governance and Strategy Group Manager has been appointed Acting Chief Executive, with unanimous support from Council. Mr Capil will take on the Chief Executive responsibilities, effective immediately, until  a permanent Chief Executive is in place.

A formal process of recruiting a Chief Executive is now underway, targeting an appointment by mid-year. CFM has spoken to the two Mayoral candidates who both commented that they had hoped the Council would wait till the incoming Council was elected later this year before announcing  an appointment of a new Chief Executive.

TCDC Mayor Sandra Goudie thanked outgoing Chief Executive Rob Williams for his contribution and wished him well for the future and his adventures overseas.

She also expressed full support to the new Chief Executive and his Leadership Team in managing council business, while the formal recruitment process progresses.

Sandra Goudie said, “We have an ambitious work programme we continue to pursue, which includes the potential developments of wharfing infrastructure around the district,  housing developments, as well as being active participants in the three waters, RMA and local government reforms, which Rex Capil has the expertise and knowledge to forge ahead and lead over the coming months”.
