Fuel companies responsible for suppling Thames will this week get a please explain letter from Energy and Transport Minister, the Hon Simeon Brown.

The Minister was in Thames at the weekend, CFM taking the opportunity to ask for his thoughts on why the town experienced some of the highest fuel prices in the country.

He said he wanted to know why there was such a difference in fuel prices between Thames and neighbouring towns. The Minister said he would be writing this week.

Local Coromandel MP, Scott Simpson, had raised the matter with him and would continue to work with him on the matter.

Meanwhile a price drop over the weekend Gull back to 287.9 a drop on 9 cents since July 3, Mobil 291.9 is back 10 cents. Gull is still 20 higher than yesterday’s national average.

Those with concerns on the Thames fuel prices can complete the CFM petition on Facebook at Coromandel’s CFM.
