Praise For Emergency Services On Cliff Rescue While Encountering Tragedy

The successful rescue of the teenage girl from the Hahei cliff face at the weekend, by a four-man FENZ Lines team, was challenging but made possible through actions by both the local Hahei and Tairua volunteer fire crews.

This from the man who lead the team which abseiled from the top of the Hahei Beach cliff, and then safely delivered the girl a further 20 metres to the beach below.

Station Officer Colin Klenner, told CFM the rescuers had 60 m of native bush to contend with before reaching the patient.

He also made mention of the other emergency services who worked through the tragic scenario to ensure the safety of the girl.
