Since 2019 the Mercury Bay Environmental Trust has been supporting Coastcare groups all around the Mercury Bay.
Each week on Friday they host a Volunteer Working bee in Whitianga and occasionally Wharekaho.
These events bring together volunteers that wish to protect the coastal environment for the community to enjoy and for our future generations.
Weeding, cleaning the beach of plastic and inorganic material. Planting dune species they have propagated at the local plant nursery. Each get together is followed by a nice hot drink and some baking.
