CFM’s New Studio Build

Written by on November 8, 2018

C95’s new studios, at 71a Cook Drive Whitianga, have been a labour of love for a handful of locals and a few other Kiwis who now call Mercury Bay their second home.

Built by the team from NZ company Southern Broadcast, who specialise in studio and transmission systems, there are two separate studios: one a full time on-air studio, and a second production/news preparation booth.

As you’ll see from the photos below, the original rooms had to be modified quite significantly to turn them into broadcast studios. The result is quite stunning, and we’re very proud of C95’s new digs.

For those who’d like to know some technical details about our studio installation, the studios include brand new analog audio Wheatstone mixing desks: an “Air4” in Studio 1 and an “Air1” in Studio 2.

The studios are also equipped with Electrovoice Microphones and NZ radio-software package “Station Playlist” for our “play-out” system (which plays all of the music and other program elements), which comes from a company right here on the North Island and is used by radio stations worldwide.

Although the studios themselves are analog, after the sound leaves the studio everything’s digital after that. If you’d like to know more about how our program gets from us to your radio you can read more about that here.
