Join us at Brighton Reserve, Waihī Beach for another awesome Coast Care working bee. Our restoration coordinator Sheanna will be firing up the BBQ and putting on a sausage sizzle for after the event.
Bring your friends and family and help us protect and restore our precious sand dunes by planting front dune plants.
Dune planting is easy and good fun with like-minded people, so come along and ‘dig’ in (if you’re bringing littles ones, please ensure you’re ready and able to help them).
📍 Where: Meet in front of the public BBQ at Brighton Reserve, across from 2 Savage Ave (look out for the Coast Care flags).
📅 Date: Sunday 27 July 2025
⏲️ Time: 10am to 12pm
🟦 What you need to bring:
* Gardening gloves (we will have some on hand, but you may prefer to bring your own)
* Sturdy, covered walking shoes/boots (no jandals or bare feet please)
* Sunhat, water and a raincoat (just in case).
☔ Please keep an eye on the weather forecasts. If MetService issues a red weather warning, this event will be cancelled and the postponement date will be 10 August 2025.
This is part of a regular programme of planting events to help restore our precious sand dunes – the backbone of our beaches and the first line of defence against coastal storm surge.
Thank you to our programme partners: Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Tauranga City Council, Western Bay of Plenty District Council, Whakatāne District Council, Ōpōtiki District Council and Department of Conservatio
