Mighty River Harmony Barbershop Men’s Chorus Concert

Mighty River Harmony is a chorus of 25 men, mostly from the Waikato, who sing in the barbershop style under the musical direction of Jill Rodgers.

The Chorus had its beginnings in 1991 as a quartet of singing scientists from Ruakura. By 1992 a chorus (Hamilton Hair Razors, which became Mighty River Harmony in 2003) of 12 was formed with Jill as Musical Director. The chorus grew to 35 and soon established itself as the strongest rival to the reigning champion chorus, City of Sails, of Auckland. In 1996 the chorus won the National Chorus Championship along with two quartet titles. The chorus has been a perennial medal winner at the New Zealand competitions culminating in the gold medal in 2017.

The chorus has competed around New Zealand and also in Hawaii (1998, 2008), Melbourne (2001), Brisbane (2011) and Sydney (2017).

The chorus and quartets from the chorus regularly perform in and around the Waikato at private and public functions including community and charity performances and an annual show at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts.
