The Surf 2 Firth Bush marathon has been described as the most technically challenging marathon in New Zealand and gives runners the opportunity to run from one side of the Coromandel to the other. The half marathon offers a challenging run/walk option and a new 12 km option is now available. All based out of Thames with competitors bused to the start of the full and half marathon. All options are run on DOC tramping trails with many following the pioneering trails of yesteryear.
Come and enjoy Bush running and trekking at its best with 42km across the ranges or 22km and new 12km run/walk options.
This event is a fundraiser for two organisations, the Rescue Helicopter Trust and one other different charity each year . Each competitor will receive a finishers medal. There are no prizes for the event other than the satisfaction of being one of the elite to finish the race. Times will be recorded and be avaliable to compare with subsequent years. Record times will be set for age groups.
