I started my radio career at Broadcasting House, Wellington training as a studio audio engineer. I moved into the announcing field in the early 80s and was first posted to the community station Taumarunui.

Over 30 odd years (and some of those years were very odd) I have worked at 2XSFM Palmerston North, King Country Radio, Ski FM, 2XX Kapiti, More FM Kapiti, More FM Wellington, Beach FM, 2ZB Wgtn, and ZMFM Wellington as announcer / presenter.

I was one of the originals of 2XX Kapiti / Horowhenua in the late 80s where I started as Drive host and moved on to be long time Breakfast Host – before the station was sold to a network some 12 years later.

Having lived and worked through the early days of private radio, community focused local radio, and radio that truly reflects the community – my love for radio is permanently engrained. Now I’m stoked to be a part of the CFM team.

Fabian Roberts

Fabian is a local musician/teacher who has turned back to Radio after some time away. He has grown up on Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen and Billy Joel and often sings along to songs in the studio. Fabian is married to a wonderful woman with two beautiful children living right here in the Coromandel. His passions are playing and watching cricket, playing piano around the community and attending fun local events all around the Coromandel Peninsula. His dislikes include writing blurbs about himself and speaking in the 3rd person. Critics of Fabian say this could be viewed as ironic given his chosen career pathway… they might have a point there… maybe he should rethink… anyway!
