The current holiday season is being hailed as one of the best on record and now the statistics are coming through which backs the claims.

Destination Hauraki Coromandel, the region’s tourism marketing arm, has with CFM, approached information centres and businesses around the region for feedback.

DHC General Manager, Hadley Dryden, summed up the response using terms such as returning to pre-covid numbers and a bumper season.

The bumper season he refers to is reflected by the fact that between December 22 and January 6, Google search impressions were up 37 percent with 1.7 million people looking for Coromandel Peninsula content.

CFM has had more than 4.4 million views on its social media sites.

Very busy has become the constant catch cry from those working to provide services and activities for visitors – the exception maybe being fishing charters on the west coast and those heading to deeper water in the east. Both have had to contend with uncomfortable seas.

The reason for the numbers – most people accept it is the fact the region has a huge domestic catchment and people in Auckland and the Waikato have wanted to make the most of the holiday season.

We have an extended interview with Hadley – open the link below.
