Repairing what he describes as isolation between its community and district council is a key objective of Thames Coromandel Mayoral candidate Peter Revell.
In an interview about his campaign for the coming local government elections, Peter said the isolation was causing frustration for residents, community boards and ratepayer groups.
To him there is a perception that council is not listening, as a result he wants to restore the voice to communities then hear and understand what they are saying.
Revell confirmed that he will not be re-standing for the Thames Ward – just focussing on the mayoralty.
He said the Thames Coromandel District Council needed a new direction, and a change in mayor.

So calked “representative” democracy is a big problem. E.g. SMP that only canvased small proportion of population, results in chronic issues pushed into the never never. E.g. no clarity how far back coastal retreat (evacuation) will be and resulting community disruption.

Peter sounded very eloquent and has qualifications and experience in many areas make him a very sound aspirant for the mayoralty. His previous experience on the council will be invaluable and stand him in good stead.
