Fox Returns Favor to Beach Town

In the space of a month adopted Waihi son, Ryan Fox, has written himself into NZ golfing immortality.

Winning yesterday’s Canadian Open on the US PGA Tour, Ryan in less than a month, has won two titles. Sir Bob Charles and Dame Lydia Ko, until yesterday, were the only two New Zealanders with multi-championship wins.

Over recent years Fox has developed a close relationship with the Waihi Golf Club hosting annual fund-raising events mixing two of his passions golf and fishing.

Waihi club captain Andy Roche was one of many locals glued to their television sets yesterday. He spoke to us about the club’s relationship with golf’s latest icon.
