Pet Pigs Off To New Home – Update 22/12/2024

Local community residents and members of Helping You Help Animals (HUHA) have today rounded up and undertaken the relocation of 50 pigs from the 309 Road Farm to a Wellington animal shelter.

A team from HUHA in Wellington travelled to Coromandel overnight, this morning loading Stuart Edmondson’s pet pigs for the journey south.

Spokesperson for HUHA, Carolyn Press-McKenzie, told CFM they had collected all the pet animals, the group had worked with family members and local community supporters.

Pet pigs belonging to Waiau famer Stuart Edmondson are being collected and will be cared for by the organisation Helping You Help Animals (HUHA).

Members of the organisation are working with Edmondson family members and friends to ensure the animals are taken care of with Stuart Edmondson now being in custody facing charges of murder and attempted murder.

Spokesperson for HUHA, Carolyn Press-McKenzie, told CFM they expected to collect the animals tomorrow (Sunday), taking them to a shelter north of Wellington.

Carolyn said the group could only handle the pet animals, she said the group had been in contact with Edmondson prior to the incident about long-term care for his pets.
