Safer Coromandel Gets A Tick And An Extension

On the back of a pass mark for its impact over the summer holiday period, the Safer Coromandel promotion is now going into new territory.
A recent review of the initiative, which has been around since 2011 after 13 people tragically lost their lives over a single holiday season, has Thames Coromandel Emergency Management Controller, Brian Carter, telling us the messaging will now continue year-round.
Around 17 local agencies are involved in delivering the Safer Coromandel messages, Brian said the messaging now was a result of the various organisations sharing common communications – he used this year’s fire messaging as an example.
