Surprise Cove Visit for Minister

The closed Cathedral Cove track, the Coromandel Peninsula’s leading tourist attraction, has had a surprise visitor in the Minister for Conservation, Tama Potaka.

Local Member of Parliament, Scott Simpson, has confirmed the meeting saying it was an opportunity for the new minister to view area and get an understanding of potential solutions.

He said Mayor Len Salt joined Scott along with senior Ngati Hei and DOC representatives. While there was no formal outcome Scott said he Minister was made aware of the importance of the Cove track to the wider region and the need to get it reopened.
