Consumer Boss Has His Say On Fuel Prices

Written by on July 8, 2024

Consumer New Zealand’s CEO, Jon Duffy, has added his voice to the debate on Thames fuel pricing.

When interviewed today by CFM, Jon made a number of observations and expressed his concerns on fuel pricing in our district.

He also provided advice to residents on what actions they could take if they believed anomalies existed with what they are paying at the pumps.

Today there was a 33 cents a litre difference between Gull Thames and Gull Ngatea.

Absolutely correct, what we need to do as consumers is come together and absolutely BOYCOTT these service stations all together UNTIL they put prices the same as Ngatea, there is zero reason for these super inflated prices!

Tut tut. nice Kim. I may be gone soon. Didn’t have much luck with the new beginning here. Love the town though. Wish i could stay. had a long convo with the owner of Mobil the other day. Took me six months of confusion or more to finally make contact.

For a few years my mother (who lived in Tapu) would purchase petrol at BO Thames. She avoided Auckland (due to the regional tax) . Now that tax has gone she now fills up her car when she is visiting me up in Auckland.

I work in Thames but haven’t bought fuel here for several years now. Thanks to the Gaspy app I always know where the best fuel prices are.

I would like to thank cfm for shining the torch on this, the crimes of fuel stations are documented and a simple audit would show this fairly quickly, I have not bough fuel in Thames for a long time as i do travel out of town once a week, it does suck for people who are stuck in town because anf saving by traveling does not help

Tut tut Mobil. I gathered they had a chat with the owner Dave as well? Or is he just being a stuckinthemud? hope it will sort itself out. Good on the community for stepping up.
