Firefighters from throughout New Zealand will next Saturday be doing the big climb challenge at the Sky Tower in Auckland and it’s for a great cause, to raise money for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer in New Zealand. Brigades from around our districts are taking part and the Coromandel and Hauraki districts are contributing to what will be another great total, for what is such a good cause.
The event first started in 2008 with $17,500 raised and it now consistently achieving more than $1m in donations. . Local teams in the challenge include brigades from Waihi and Waihi Gold Mines Rescue who combined have so far raised nearly $50,000. Other brigades from this area include Thames, Coromandel, Whitianga, Cooks Beach, Tairua, Paeroa Mangatangi.
