Another Gift from Minister During Visit
Written by John Freer on May 25, 2023
Most times it seems that when the likes of Recovery Minister, Hon Michael Wood, comes to town, there will be an announcement around the provision of financial support.
This week it has been the case with the Minister announcing funding for representative business organisations – $300,000 of it, to support business at this time of need.
The Minister met with the Cyclone Recovery Independent Advisory Group before heading off on a road trip around the Coromandel Peninsula to the likes of Whitianga and Tairua.
He told CFM he was encouraged by the frank feedback from group members, and the status of the Thames Coromandel District Council’s cyclone recovery plan.
With cyclone business recovery, he said three tranches of funding had been made and that was pretty much the end of that.
But he was open to further discussion on business support.
“(I) want to have a closer look as to if there is a case for more targeted support in the various districts which have been effected by floods,” he said.
