SIR CLIFF RICHARD CALLS STOP ON HIS MUSIC CAREER

Written by on March 7, 2022

At 81 years of age most would be considering retirement but Sir Cliff has instead decided to stop his music career in a move he says will allow him to change his mind and return if inclined in the future. He said he was pleased to have been able to perform “The Great 80 Tour” in 2021 when he turned 80.

In an interview with the Australian Women’s Weekly he said, “Stopping would mean that I could absolutely change my mind any time I wanted to, or phone my office and say, ‘Can you get us a couple of nights at the Royal Albert Hall?’

“Retiring is not in my vocabulary, but stopping is good for me – I can work whenever I want to, if I want to.”

He has had a huge career recording 66 top 40 albums and 68 singles in the top 10 and 14 of those reached number one hits.
