COVID-19 UPDATE – Tuesday 24 August 2021 – Day 7 of Lockdown

Written by on August 24, 2021

A total of 41 new cases today bringing the total to 148 in this current outbreak.

The good news for the Coromandel is again we do not have a single case to report in this area or the nearby surrounding areas. Twelve of the cases are in Wellington and all the remaining open cases are in Auckland.

Wastewater testing continues to show no trace of Covid-19 in any areas outside of Auckland and Wellington.

For the Coromandel, the attention now remains on close contacts of Case A. All of whom have now had day 1 and 5 tests and all have been negative. The next test is done at day 12 which covers Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for all Coromandel Town Locations of Interest and the Woodturners Café at Mangatarata.

However with numbers continuing to increase in Auckland and Wellington, the focus is clearly on what will happen regarding alert levels on Friday and next Tuesday. Any continued lockdown for Auckland and Wellington (which is looking very likely), will have an impact on local business.  The raises a number of challenges for people to face from both a personal and business point of view. Attached today is a document that outlines where to go for help on a range of support areas. Please download this here.
