The Hauraki Gulf has been in the news over recent days with an announcement relating to a Marine Protection Bill, and the Hauraki Gulf Forum released its three-year State of the Gulf report.

Living in Thames, Katina Conomos has worked with several entities on Hauraki Gulf restoration. Katina is currently the Programme Director of Revive Our Gulf – an organisation with a focus on seabed mussel restoration.

We asked Katina about the many areas of work being undertaken across the Gulf, feedback on the proposed Marine Protection Bill, the importance of the Gulf, and what are the key things she thinks about while enjoying a coffee and looking out across the Firth of Thames.

She responded with three actions – protection, restoration, and education. Open the link below to hear our interview with Katina Conomos.
