SH25 Hikuai to Onemana Closed After Serious Accident

Police have closed State Highway 25 between Hikuai and Onemana after a serious accident on the highway between a car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist has received serious injuries and the road has been closed.

The accident was reported at around 12:45pm and we understand is located about 250m south from the McBeth turnoff near where the major slip occurred.

Emergency services are in attendance and the road is reported to be closed from the Hikuai turnoff to the Onemana turnoff. It is expected to be closed for a few hours.

Cars travelling to the Coromandel and heading to Whangamata should divert to Waihi rather than travel SH25A due to the closure of SH25 at Hikuai.
