Thames Fuel The Most Expensive In The Country

Written by on July 15, 2024

It is official that Thames enjoys the most expensive fuel in the country.

An investigation by CFM using Mobil or BP fuel outlets across the country and the fuel app Gaspy, comparisons revealed Thames was the most expensive at $296.9 the closest being Mobil Wellington at $283.9.

The sample was taken on Sunday at 1pm.

The cheapest was Mobil Porirua at $259.9 – please see the chart below.

A further development yesterday we received an official response from Gull as the recognised pricing disrupter on Thames pricing which stated: “Just to reiterate, Gull has no visibility on prices in Thames – it is an independent-owner operated site and so you should direct all your questions to the site operator.”

We have done this.

“Gull has no visibility on prices in Thames” Seriously, what does that even mean?? The rest of the country ‘has visibility’, why don’t you? Perhaps you should get the Gaspy app…
It does not, and will never justify ripping people off for years!

I’m still waiting for this “investigation” I keep hearing about. looks more like just a bunch of Facebook moaning by the keyboard warriors including the radio station.

maybe ask who is actually making the money that comes from the high price. I can 💯 % guarantee that the local stations don’t all pay the same price for the fuel. (my aunty used to work at a servo and keeps in touch with the old boss)

if all petrol stations had the same cost price then the retail prices would be much closer, not 40 cents or more difference.

I don’t agree with all this bashing up on the local businesses, in fact it a bloody discrace.

What are you talking about mate I travel all across the North Island . Gas stations to Bay of Plenty. South Waikato . Waikato. and King Country beyond. in comparison all beat Thames prices between 35 up to 50 cents in difference. They’ve been price fixing in Thames for over 20 years. Enough of this Criminal behavior.
