Will Rates Hit a 35 Percent Increase Over Three Years?

Written by on October 17, 2024

If you are a Thames Coromandel district ratepayer, pull out your rate demand and check the numbers.

For some people their rates have increased around 27 percent over the past two years. Earlier this week your council started looking at its annual plan which will set next year’s rates.

Those councillors have forecast another 7.7 percent increase in the long term plan which means over three years, rates bills will have rocketed 34.7 percent. Councillors got a look at the first cut of numbers this week behind closed doors.

We asked Mayor Len Salt if he believes the projected increase will be achieved. Open the link below to hear the response.

Love the comment about rrying to be as open and transparent as possibe? Instead, how about you try the simplistic solution, being honest! That way you will never have to remember what you actually said and we the general public wil be able to trust you. Your statements as they stand do not engender trust as they leave too much wriggle room to recant many things.
