We’re excited to invite you to be part of World Cleanup Day 2025 right here in Mercury Bay!
On Saturday 20 September, Wāhi Tukurua (Mercury Bay Resource Recovery Centre) will join millions of people across 190 countries in the world’s largest-ever civic movement to tackle litter and mismanaged waste.
Our local goal? Collect over 2,000kg of rubbish from our beaches, waterways, streets, and reserves – all in just three hours.

🕚 Finish by 11:30am
☕ Post-clean-up sorting, weighing, and celebrating
Just bring gloves, buckets or reusable bags, and your can-do attitude. We’ll supply the rest.
It’s a fun, feel-good morning where small steps make a big impact. Come solo, bring your friends, bring the whānau – everyone’s welcome.

This year is extra special as it’s our first Clean Up Day since opening the new Wāhi Tukurua Resource Recovery Centre site – another big step in reducing waste to landfill and protecting our beautiful home.
