Happy World Orca Day!

Dr. Ingrid Visser is a one of a kind scientist – she’s the founder of World Orca Day and of the Orca Research Trust the only research project dedicated to orcas in the South Pacific.

July 14, is World Orca Day and in Dr Ingrid’s words “it’s a celebration of how wonderful Orca really are.”

Kieron spoke to Dr Ingrid Visser on World Orca Day:

Orca, or Killer Whales are a top a predator, incredibly intelligent and have diverse cultures. Ingrid’s research on the orca is ground breaking, focusing on the cultural aspects of orca behaviour – in particular their feeding methods and socialising.

Ingrid is the author of two children’s books and an autobiography, Swimming with Orca. She was involved in the acclaimed documentary ‘Blackfish’, which investigated the death of a SeaWorld trainer. And she is part of the Advisory Group to the Whale Sanctuary Project.

Dr Ingrid invites us to join leading scientists from around the world talking and chatting about Orca at a special webinar Friday July 15 – follow the link to register – WorldOrcaDay.org
