Over half of the potential voters for the coming local council elections are still to decide who they want as their Thames Coromandel Mayor.

According to the results of a recent Curia poll, undertaken by CFM, 54 percent of voters remain unsure of who will get their tick. The poll was conducted earlier this month and involved a 500-person sample – all those living in the district.

It asked who people will vote for from the three who have indicated they will be standing for the October election.

Current Mayor Len Salt has the support of 29 percent, Councillor Peter Revell has 14 percent supporting him and Patrick Kerr has four percent in his camp.

When broken into gender 59 percent of females are unsure of who they will vote for, with men it was 48 percent.

Around the four council wards – in Coromandel/Colville 62 percent are undecided, South-east being Tairua, Pauanui and Whangamata 60 percent, Mercury Bay 55 percent and Thames 46 percent.
