Coromandel Town is the chosen location for Outward Bound to establish a new North Island based facility.

Sixty years after being established at Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds, the Trust announced today it was looking to establish a second facility – at Coromandel Peninsula.

Acting CEO Simon Graney, confirmed with CFM, that the preferred location is around Coromandel Town.

He said he had already looked at a number of sites and enjoyed cups of tea with people who may have locations available. Discussions have also been held with council staff and iwi.

The aim was to secure a site before the end of this year.

Simon the Trust would spend around $10 million to establish the training facility which they hoped to have operational within two years. An interview with Simon can be heard at cfm.co.nz.
