WHIRITOA HELICOPTER RESCUE OF TWO FISHERMAN

A couple of fisherman ended up in trouble off the rocks at the southern end Whiritoa beach last night.
The incident happened early last evening when one of them fell in the water while fishing and was rescued by the other. They then were unable to get back to the beach and Police were alerted who in turn called and Westpac Rescue helicopter was called to winch them to safety.
The Westpac Helicopter Crew were tasked by Police at 9pm to assist with the search and rescue of two men (one in his 50’s, the other in his 30’s) fishing off the southern end of Whiritoa Beach. They were retrieved by winch by our Critical Care Paramedic.
Both were in a minor condition and were left in the care of ambulance and the Westpac Helicopter returned to the Ardmore base.
