Street Protest on Thames Fuel Prices

As the momentum continues in the campaign to push down Thames fuel prices now a protest is being organised to take the matter on to the town’s streets.

Planned for Saturday, August 3, protest organisers want people to have the chance to publicly voice their concerns and show their support to help lower fuel prices.

Goldie Anderson is the protest organiser, yesterday she provided her thoughts on why Thames pays a premium for fuel. She believed for too long fuel retailers maintained inflated prices which were not in line with the overall market.

She believed it was greed which drove the Thames fuel retailers when you compared prices in the likes of Ngatea and other areas outside of Thames which enjoyed cheaper fuel.

Goldie noted the lack of response from both station owners and the fuel companies since the issue of high cost prices had been raised. She acknowledged what she saw as a small drop in the past month but to her it was not enough, wanting Thames to enjoy pricing which was aligned to the national average.

The protest is on Saturday, August 3 starting from the Goldfields Shopping Centre carpark at 11am – it will head across Mary Street, then down Pollen Street to the Gull station.
